Andy Burnham has correctly stated that it is reprehensible for videos of dangerous driving to be put on social media. All he has to do is bring in mandatory jail sentences if anybody drives dangerously. Especially if there is evidence available of them doing it.

I was on a motorway where there were major accidents due to rash driving. A driver cut in front of the car at high speed, which could have caused a major accident, and he stuck his finger out through his sunroof before speeding away.

I reported the car with the registration number, but police said they did not have time to investigate it. People are baiting police, and police officers do not have the resources or the powers to do anything. This must change; support our officers, give them the extra manpower they need, and shorten the red tape so that they can be more effective, spending time on the beat, catching criminals.

In cases like that, where there is clear video evidence of wrongdoing, the police should be able to review the footage, then issue a flat fine to the owner of the car and put a "point" added on their licence. There would be no need for the courts to get involved.

More people should use dashcams. They should be automatically offered for sale in new and used car purchases.
